New course at Hawkwood College

Woven Textile Designer, Handweaver

I am back at West Dean College nr Chichester in March, 8th to 11th 2026, teaching a 3 day course with supper and course introduction on the evening prior to commencement. Residential if preferred.
We will be exploring weaving, materials, colour and patterning using the wonderfully simple and intuitive Body-Tensioned loom incorporating a Rigid Heddle. You’ll create lots of samples to take home.
Further information and booking is direct with West Dean College but get in touch if you want to chat before you decide to join the course.

I am exhibiting in this show of work by members of Stroudwater Textile Trust. On Tuesday there will be a ‘Meet the Maker’ event from 3pm to 5.30, where I and other participants will be happy to talk about our pieces in the show and our creative practice generally.
There is a weaving activity for the duration of the show, where visitors can deconstruct Deb Roberts’s photographic image of the erosion of Minchinhampton common and then reweave the strands.
In the Corn Hall, Cirencester on 4th and 5th October.
I will be demonstrating weaving alongside members of The Gloucestershire Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers on the Saturday. I have a beautiful Cotswold Wool warp on my 4 shaft loom ready to weave Honeycomb and other structures and patterns.

I will be demonstrating weaving on the first two days of this event. An invitation was extended to Stroudwater Textile Trust to have a presence at the Show and as a member I am happy to talk weaving, wool and what the Trust does.

Something a little different this year… an intensive hour of weaving on rigid heddle looms selecting wefts from my vast range of British wool yarns, including native, rare breed and farm produced wools. There are only 8 spaces over 4 sessions so individual attention is assured.

I will be demonstrating weaving on a table loom on Saturday and Sunday at The Earth Trust’s Spring Festival, using local, native and rare-breed wools.
There will be a couple of my simple Body-Tensioned looms setup ready for you to have a go at weaving too.

As weave tutor for Highgrove Traditional Crafts I was invited to display the work I do with the students – obviously this had to include a working loom! Woven designs and pieces from my professional practice were included in the display; apart from being admired they were a catalyst for interesting conversations about provenance and sustainability of the British Wools I use.
It was a lovely Christmasy event with carol singers. I enjoyed meeting other tutors, students across all the courses and the invited VIP guests who support, are ambassadors for, or are connected to The Kings Foundation.
Several guests were keen to have a go at weaving, however The King was too busy meeting an entire room of important people.
